What to Expect During a Headshot Session
Elements Headshots is located inside the fabulous Elements Content Studio housed at Thrive DTSP. The amazing team at the front desk will let you up the elevator, and then you will make your way into our state-of-the-art studio.
There are bathrooms equipped with all the self-care essentials, we have a makeup station and makeup artists available for booking, and you can bring multiple clothing changes to rotate during your session!
Once you are ready, Tommy will begin adjusting the lighting to your unique features and will guide you through the photo selection process. Then, the Headshot Engineer will begin to work his magic! He will coach you through body positioning and expressions and will get you so comfortable in front of the camera that you will feel like the star you are!
What to wear:
We encourage our clients to bring a variety of clothing options to their photo sessions. The most important rule? You must love what you wear! If you're not comfortable, it will show in your photos. We recommend bringing different styles, colors, and necklines to find the best look for you.
For our corporate clients, men should consider bringing several jacket, shirt, and tie combinations, while women might opt for a mix of blouses, dresses, and jackets. When it comes to jewelry, simple is best—studs or small earrings and minimalist necklaces are ideal, though if bold jewelry is your style, feel free to bring it!
If you wear glasses, bring all your pairs to help us manage any glare.
Unsure about an outfit? Bring it along! Layers are great, especially for actors, and there's no need to stick to seasonal wear—everything from t-shirts and tank tops to sweaters and light jackets can work.
Have fun with your wardrobe choices! If you feel like you're missing something, go shopping and keep the tags on—we can return the items after the shoot. We have a steamer in the studio to handle any wrinkles, so you’ll look polished and photo-ready.
Hair and Makeup:
Makeup for your session isn't required but is highly recommended for all women. The cost for makeup, including hair assistance, is detailed above.
Our makeup artist applies makeup tailored to our specific lighting, starting with a natural, clean look. We’ll make touch-ups and subtle adjustments throughout the shoot. If you prefer a more defined makeup style from the beginning, just let us know!
Women’s Hair:
Please arrive with your hair styled as you want to present yourself. We aim for your hair to look its best in your photos, so come prepared as if you’re having a fantastic hair day. Our makeup artist will ensure your hair is shoot-ready and discuss your preferences at the start of the session.
If you need a significant hair transformation or have naturally curly hair that you want straightened, there may be an additional $50 charge for blowouts. Please discuss these needs with us before your session so we can plan accordingly.
Men:
We typically don’t recommend makeup for men, but our makeup artist can provide light grooming for skin and hair if desired. Please inquire about pricing before your session. Our professional retouching usually addresses any skin issues, so you’re in good hands.
Facial Hair:
If you want to shoot with facial hair, feel free to come in with any level of growth. After capturing some shots with the scruff, we can shave or trim it down. Remember to bring your grooming products to make any necessary adjustments during the session.
